My Mal-Mal…

My Mal-Mal. I remember how active Mallory was in my belly when I was pregnant with the twins. Because of the technology of ultrasounds we knew where twin A and twin B were located throughout the pregnancy. Mal was twin A and was full of vim and vigor while Hailey, twin B was always just chillax. We had their names chosen before they were born and I had a sense of their personalities before they were born. Mallory being twin A was born first and her personality entails a lot of type A personality traits. She has an air of maturity about her. Mal was born organized. She’s the first to start to clean her room without even be asked to do so. When mal was three or four years old she was in the gym at the elementary school with me while I set up for a Girl Scout ceremony. We were decorating with different colored balloons and before they were hung she organized them by color on the bleachers. She might be pint-sized but she knows what she wants, when she wants it, and how she wants it.

my hailey-bug

Poor girl. We used to call her Hailey-Butt. But then she grew up and turned five and decided that ‘butt’ was gross and insisted we change it. That was two years ago. Which happens to remind me that as she began to learn to spell she realized that ‘toe’ was contained in the word tomatoes. Neither Mal or Hailey have ever really been a fan of tomatoes. So she tilts her head to the side, deep in tought, then says… “no wonder I don’t like tomatoes.”

I KNOW my twin girls. I know what they each sound like when they talk. Which one is crying in another room. Which one is coughing in her sleep. Inside and out. Eyes open or shut. I know my girls. Which is why I’m so completely baffled over this first set of images of my Haily-Bug. Anyone who can typically tell these two apart will look at these pictures of Hailey and insist they’re of Mal.

I love that image above on the left. It’s just so Hailey. During our time together, I’d laugh and say “hey Hailey, did you forget we’re taking pictures? What’s THAT face?” Oh Hailey. I love ya girl!

STEAL MY HEART!

These pictures feed my soul for so many reasons. Of course I love them and swoom because she’s my baby. But equally as important is how they reflect the kind of work I’ve been wanting to produce. When I first entered the business of photography I sort of took whatever I could get and tried to get my name out there. I spent three years shooting sessions the way my client’s wanted. Which is fine and I’m certainly thrilled they loved their images. But, I didn’t love them. This season and going forward my client’s who trust my artistic ability and LOVE it will return and new client’s will find me and LOVE my style. Or, they’ll hire another photographer who will produce what they’re looking for. And, I’m okay with that. I’m doing what I love and love what I’m doing and now I’m proud of my images.

coming up…

yesterday it was sunny and 40 degrees yo! that’s some exciting stuff right there. i’m starting to get a little cabin fever and can’t sit still. i’m in the phase of the year where the garbage gets chucked. rooms are rearranged. paint may or may not be involved. so anything that will bring distraction from all of those things brings a sigh of relief from my Todd I’m sure.

anywhoo that distraction yesterday was some time with our babies who had their seventh birthday in february. there’s no denying the hints of being toddlers is sooo long gone. i pretended for as long as i could. i love these two so madly that i think my heart might explode.
