So this morning I find myself sitting alone in a hotel room, a really nice hotel room, no view of the ocean or anything but none the less a great hotel. The hubs has class this weekend here in Midland and we have friends and family both about thirty minutes away that we’ll be hanging out with so the hubs and I came up for the weekend without the kids.
We typically stay at a Best Western or Comfort Inn but this weekend we checked into The H Hotel right on Main Street and it is truly gorgeous. The lobby has a white marble floor with very high ceilings and white paneled walls. Very clean, classic, modern, and elegant. The lighting fixtures and other items they’ve used to make the hotel feel more like home are fresh and organic and the paintings are to die for. There is glass tile in every bathroom all in earth tones oh and the bed! Down comforter not one of those cardboard bed cover things and amaaazing pillows. It’s typical for us to leave a hotel stay in search for something we love. Our last trip, we came home and bought a king sized bed made by the same company of the one we slept on while on vacation. This time, we’re looking for pillows baby!
Dinner last night without having to tell the kids to sit down one-hundred times was awesome and peaceful and neither of us spilled our beverage across the table so that was a nice change of pace too. Still, I called first thing this morning. I missed Tyler but got to talk to each of the girls and although it’s not even been twenty-four hours, I miss them. Mallory thinks it’s really cool that we’re “living” in a hotel.
Midland is beautiful. It’s a photographers feast! The houses on Main St. are large old victorian style homes with amazing front porches and gorgeous gardens. The other buildings on Main St. have an equal amount of character and I can’t wait to get out there with my camera. If you’re a Michigander in the market for a place to book your wedding, The H Hotel would be perfect! Todd and I plan to renew our vows in the next coming years and so far this hotel is top on the list. The Royal Park in Rochester would be fantastic but this elegant little place in this gorgeous little town is more our style. Okay, my style. Todd could really care less.
So we had a lovely evening, a quiet dinner, took a short walk on Main Street last night and it was a truly beautiful night, swam for a bit, and relaxed in the hot tub. It was really a super evening. But really, too many days of this and we’ll have no idea what to do with ourselves. We’ve never been the type that can really sit still, neither of us.
This evening I’m looking forward to a romantic meal with my husband, another walk around the town area, and we’ll likely head over to campus to get some great shots of Todd while we’re up here and see what other gems I can find.
I’d love to share my gorgeous hotel with ya but I forgot my card reader at home so you’ll just have to wait!
A shy little peanut, a modest beauty, and one super handsome loving big brother! From a recent portrait party! Enjoy!
