coffee table books {jena sais quoi}

I haven’t photographed a high school senior girl yet that didn’t want my package with the 8×8 coffee table book. This is hugely popular. It’s such a great way to tell the story of each particular senior and really capture their personality. I love these books and have some of my own for my children and vacations.

something old, something new….

Let’s start with the something new shall we! 2012 is about focusing on my strengths and my passions. It’s also about growth and improvement. On personal and professional level. The best way for me to go about doing so is streamlining my life. God first, family second, career third. But it’s impossible for me to maintain a balanced life without learning to say ‘no’ to some things. So in 2012 I’m saying ‘yes’ in a big way to what I love. My Lord. My Family. My work in the form of weddings and couples.

In 2012 I’m saying ‘no’ to all lifestyle and commercial opportunities. I will no longer be commissioning for family and newborn sessions. I love being a wedding photographer. I love the opportunity I have to get to know and become friends with each of my couples. I love love. I love the details. I love it all. I want to STAY passionate about my life. To do so I’m saying ‘yes’ to what I love.

Something old… since I’m constantly refining my style and always examining just what makes my heart skip a beat so I attract perfect couples I thought I’d share some of my favorite moments, details, and people of 2011. This will have to be broken into a few different posts.

Let’s start with my favorite time of the day. When we finally get to just hang out, ya know me, my camera, and my bride and groom. I’m all about romance and stories.

home for the holidays

I have a little brother in the Marines. Happy birthday Marines! Anyway, he’s a lifer, typically living with his family overseas, and doesn’t come home often or stay long enough. There have been two Christmas seasons now since my brothers and I have all gotten married that we’ve gotten all twenty of us or so together for a large family portrait. Remember the last time you took your kids to a chain store to get their pictures taken? And how much fun was that?

So take the pressure off of your kids by forcing them to turn on their charm in a strange environment in the middle of nap time. This holiday season gather at home for your family portraits. Thirty minutes is all you need. And, let’s be honest, it’s all the kids are willing to offer right? This is a very relaxed and fun session where you can just hang out in your own home doing what you do as a family. Maybe for you this includes story time, a fire in the fireplace, or maybe the tickle monster comes for a visit. Either way, no one is stressed and you won’t get stuck chasing your kid through the underwear department. That’s never happened to me by the way.

Session times will be limited as I’m only offering a limited number of days. All cards, prints, and products are guaranteed by Christmas as long as your order and payment are submitted by December 15th.
