Wow how time can get away from a person! I can’t believe it’s been over a month since I met my husband in Chicago for the weekend and I’ve been such a bad blogger! We enjoyed a much needed weekend together, filled with lots of laughter and lots of walking.

We were such tourists! Not only did we visit the John Hancock building but we did the whole audio tour thing too!

There’s a possible trip to Italy in our future so we thoroughly enjoyed lunch and gelato at the Italian Cafe

There’s an entire room showcasing the history of interior design across the world in miniature form. Totally dreamy!

The highlight of my weekend was hands down the theatre production of A Chorus Line. I sat at the edge of my seat. I cried. I gave a standing ovation. And, I wasn’t alone.

If it weren’t for a photo-a-day project, I might not otherwise have these little moments captured. I’m not really a resolution kinda girl but, with every new year I do set new goals and I’m pretty good about sticking to it. I spend a lot of time preserving memories for strangers, who become friends over time, and not nearly enough time preserving my own. This project has helped hold me accountable and oh how rewarding it is to look through and really ‘see’ what often times goes un-noticed.

And… in other news. Todd might just have a romantic bone or two after all. He’s flying me into Chicago tonight to spend the weekend ALONE with him. Internet, this is huge! After sixteen years of marriage, spontaneity is not common ground. His mom left a message for me this morning and she’s so dang cute. She said “oh my gosh, I’m so excited for you. How romantic! Call me later, I’m just so excited. A romantic weekend in Chicago alone.” Like a giddy school girl. It made me value the lengths Todd is willing to go to continue to win over my heart. I feel like a crack head of a mother though; dad’s already away and now mom’s joining him. I know they’ll be in great hands though.

On with the project!

Childhood. These shots makes my heart siiiiiing!

Upclose. love it. nough said.

What I’m reading… err wishing I was reading. Since Todd is out of town, I spend what little spare time I have sleeping and I’m not even doing enough of that.
Photobucket

Where I sleep… sometimes it’s a bed. Sometimes it’s a movie theatre. Sometimes It’s a homework station.
Photobucket

Morning… this was my first clue that winter was going to make an appearance this year after all. Now that’s it’s six degrees outside, I’m over it. Bring on the summer!
Photobucket

Water… I’m not feeling uber creative over this one but I still kinda like it.

thank god for hearts that race, after 19 years!

For the last twenty-four hours my heart has been racing, stomach in knots, palms slightly damp, and I’ve been on the verge of breaking out into a cold sweat and hives simultaneously. Todd’s off to Chicago for ten days.

I remember what it felt like when we first started dating back in 1776. Okay, I exaggerate but he’s literally been the center of my universe since I was fifteen years old. It felt quite the same actually. Racing heart. Lump in my throat. Butterflies. So many I thought I might vomit. Tension so thick we could cut it with a knife. My nervous thoughts so loud in my head I panicked he might hear them too. I would intentionally leave my left hand slightly pulled away from my body pleading with God he’d prompt him to hold it.

And, not since the first time he sang UB40’s cover of ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ have we been apart for ten days.
